Hello skiers and snowboarders:

Snow is falling again in the Cascades.

The snowpack got beat up with the warm atmospheric river but the snow pack didn’t disappear. We lost a little, but now snow is piling up again. Snow recovery is in progress.

The atmospheric river is gone. We are back to typical winter storms, with mountain snow. The snow levels have dropped. Expect 6-15” of new with a 2,000 ft snow level, from Thursday am to early Friday. Convergence zone snowfall aims at Stevens and the Summit, for the most snowfall.  It’s a good start to recovery, while getting more terrain open. Plus, more snow is coming. By the weekend, it’s game on in the snow department.

A strong weather system will move in early on Saturday.  Expect snow to fall from mid-day Saturday into Sunday. By Sunday afternoon you’ll see a whopping 7-14” of new. Snow level will rise a bit to 3,500 – 5,000 ft with most ski slopes receiving a healthy shot of new snow.

Next week there is a dry trend for several days. Right now, it looks like Friday (15th) the snowfall will pick again with a moderate storm.

I know this is a somewhat irregular start to the season, but it’s still early December. We’ll get on track.

Thanks for all who attended the wildly successful Zoom yesterday evening (135 people !). Thanks Andrea for setting up. Great session with excellent questions. Recording/transcripts of the Zoom - see link below.

And thanks to Matt who fondly remembered the Larry Schick Signers from my KING 5 days in the 1980’s and 90’s. The “singers” were a brief weather sing along, I did on the morning news -- follow the bouncing ball...”Drip, Drip, Drip (thunderclap), Stormy Weather”

We also had the “Awesome Sunrise Alert” – trumpets, fanfare, then a beautiful live sunrise shot on the news.

Ok, enough of memory lane…

…and one more thing – see what a Grand Poobah has to deal with, not all fun and games:

I got an email from a powder alert user. They said they were “offended”, I called myself, among other things “dear leader”.

Hey, I am kind of offended some people don’t appreciate satire.

Of course, maybe they were messing with me? Maybe I don’t get it. Ok, let’s not overthink it.

The Exalted, Great Leader: Grand Poobah of Powder…but just a regular guy.
