Hello skiers and snowboarders!

Last Thursday's snowpack report presented rather modest figures, with percentages of normal snowpack ranging from 50% in the Mt. Baker area to 33% in the Olympics. However, hold onto your beanies, because a significant shift is on the horizon! With the forecasted snowfall for the upcoming week, we anticipate a dramatic increase, possibly reaching 80% or more of normal by week's end. Short Term:

Sunday is set to usher in heavy snowfall, starting at 4000' and descending to 1000' later in the day. Brace yourselves for at least 12 inches of snow, with the potential for even more across West Cascade Resorts like Mt. Baker, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, and Crystal. Additionally, areas like White Pass, Mission Ridge, 49 Degrees North, and Silver Mountain are slated to receive a healthy dusting.

Monday may bring an unstable air mass, possibly accompanied by intense snow and thunder in some regions. Tuesday promises lighter snow and improved conditions, offering an ideal opportunity for a memorable powder day.

Wednesday heavy snow and windy conditions will return. The map below has many areas in the West Cascades with red colors (12" snow). This will be a typical pattern for much of the upcoming week. The East Cascades will also do well with new snow.

The second map shows cumulative snowfall from today through Thursday afternoon. Many areas in the circled areas will have 72 inches for this period.

Upcoming snowfall: Best this season!

Powder fans, this is it.

Prepare yourselves for the best snowfall of the season! This week promises an abundance of powder, offering daily opportunities for exhilarating experiences on the slopes. Expect 2-3 feet or more of fresh snowfall from Sunday to Friday, with additional refills throughout each day. With almost continuous snowfall throughout the week, every day will feel like a powder day, except for a brief respite on Tuesday. This snowstorm cycle offers optimal conditions, with the gradual lowering of snow levels ensuring a stable base for lighter, colder snow.

The anticipated heavy snowfall will not only rejuvenate local resorts like Mt. Baker, the Summit, Stevens, Crystal, and White Pass but also extend its benefits to Whistler, parts of BC, and the Inland Northwest.

However, with these exciting conditions come challenges, including wind at ridges and managing snow safely. Remember to ski responsibly, heed ski patrol guidance, and exercise caution in roped and closed areas.

In conclusion, gear up for a week of snowy adventures and unforgettable moments on the slopes. Stay tuned for further updates, and don't forget to prepare for the snow by accessing essential resources listed below.

Wishing you a fantastic week of powder-filled fun!

Extended Outlook:

While confidence in 14-day forecasts typically wavers, one thing is certain: below-normal temperatures are forecasted for the first week of March (first map below). This bodes well for maintaining a solid snowpack, with temperatures expected to remain below freezing for the foreseeable future. The second map shows temperatures for Stampede Pass (just east of Snoqualmie Pass) at 4000'. Although specifics regarding snowfall amounts remain uncertain, the outlook suggests a continuation of favorable conditions for snow enthusiasts.
