Sunny Spring Skiing Then Snow Returns Wednesday

Hello Powder Alert Fans,

  • Monday: Sunny and mild

  • Tuesday: Mild with an increase in clouds late in the day

  • Wednesday: Snow 2 to 4"

  • Thursday: Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy with a slight chance of snow

Short Term Discussion

Hello skiers and snowboarders,

Monday and Tuesday we will continue with mostly sunny conditions as we remain under a ridge of high pressure. Starting late Tuesday and into Wednesday, a trough of low pressure and associated cold front starts to move into the Cascades.

New snow: the net result will be 2 to 4" of snow at 3500 to 4500' on Wednesday with closer to 2" at 3000'. Cold air will remain in place for Thursday with just the slight chance of a few snow showers at 3000 to 4000'.

Check out the extended outlook.

Extended Outlook

Forecast models have been consistent with the outlook for April 4 to April 8 with below-normal temperatures and near-normal precipitation. This pattern will help to maintain a good snowpack so we can enjoy some spring turns. You can see on the map below for Saturday, April 6. This brings a trough of low pressure off our coast. This will bring cold air and keep snow levels at 3000 to 4000'.

How much snowfall from Saturday, April 6 to Monday, April 8?

Forecast models have been all over the place on this so there is some uncertainty here. Interestingly one model has 8" of powder for Monday, April 8.

Our next update will be Thursday, April 4 with the extended and short-term forecasts.
