Hello skiers and snowboarders,
We can expect dry conditions from Monday through Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure is over our region. The only exception is that Mt. Baker will have a chance of some very light snow.
There will be sun breaks at times for the mid to upper slopes of Snoqualmie Pass and Stevens. Crystal Mt. will generally be sunny for most areas of the mountain.
Thursday, we are expecting light snow (see map below) as a weak weather system moves in. See our extended outlook below.
Monday to Wednesday: Dry with sun breaks
Thursday: 1 to 2" of snow

Extended Outlook- Friday 1-17 to Sunday 1-19
Starting later on Friday we will have a strong ridge of high pressure (see map below) in the upper atmosphere that builds. This is called a blocking high or an Omega Block (shape can represent the Greek letter Omega Ω.) With these patterns, low pressure (green colors in the map below) is located on either side of the ridge of high pressure. The resultant weather patterns are extended dry periods as wet weather systems are deflected to other areas.
Also, with this pattern during the winter cold air and fog can settle in the valleys. For the mountains, we can have low clouds in the lower slopes and sun in the mid to upper slopes.
Thursday, our next update will pinpoint the next chances of snow.
