Mild Over The Weekend Then Snow Returns

Hello Powder Alert Fans,

Friday: Dusting of snow early; sun breaks in the afternoon
Saturday: Mostly sunny and mild
Sunday: Partly cloudy; perhaps a brief shower but not likely
Monday: Snow likely mid slopes 2 to 4"
Short Term Discussion

After some brief light showers early Friday, we are expecting dry and warming conditions for later Friday and into Saturday. During this period the main part of the storm track and precipitation is to our south.

If you are seeking sun and mild conditions, Saturday looks like the best day. Sunday there is an increase in clouds with just a slight chance of a rain shower at 6000'. However, most models are saying it will be dry on Sunday.

Monday a cold front drops down from the north to bring snow levels down to 3500 to 4000'.

The graph below is for Stampede Pass which is at 4000' and just east of Snoqualmie Pass. You can see daytime temperatures for Monday and Tuesday drop to down the mid-30s and lows in the 20s. Snowfall by Tuesday morning is the dark purple colors and shows 7". Most of this occurs on Monday and early Tuesday. These amounts might be overstated, I think 4" is a better forecast.

Extended Outlook

The map below is the 24-hour snowfall for the period ending Tuesday morning. The area of red is Mt. Rainier and to the east is Crystal Mountain which looks like 4" and perhaps slightly higher. Tuesday should be a good powder day for Crystal Mountain, Uphill Travel Policy link.

On Thursday and Friday, a ridge of high pressure (second map) is just off our coast and this will bring a dry pattern.
