Light snow early this week and extended is looking great

Hello skiers and snowboarders,

After enjoying some great spring-type skiing this weekend with sunny and mild conditions, we are expecting changes this coming week.

Monday through Wednesday we will have light snow daily, mainly for the mid and upper slopes. Although some snow Wednesday for the lower slopes. The best chance of snow will be later Tuesday and early Wednesday. Cumulative snow from Monday through later Wednesday (see map below) is 2 to 4", although we could see higher totals for Mt. Baker. Wednesday would be a great day to enjoy some new snow.

The current short-term pattern favors heavier snow for Southern Oregon Cascades and into the Northern Sierra in California. However, our extended outlook starts to favor Washington.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Monday - 1"

  • Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning - Up to 3"

  • Thursday - Sun breaks

Slopes- Elevation General Guidelines

  • Lower Slopes - Under 4000'

  • Mid-Slopes - 4000 to 5500'

  • Upper-Slopes - Above 5500'

Prepared by Michael Fagin, Meteorologist.

Take a look at our extended outlook below.

Extended Outlook: March 7 to March 10

After some mild and dry conditions in late February, the forecast models are consistently bringing in cooler air and snow for much of March. The maps below show conditions for March of above normal precipitation and below normal temperatures. This is a great recipe for adding to our snowpack. Granted this is an extended outlook but most models have been showing this trend.

The best chances of snow will be for March 9 and March 10. We are expecting cooler conditions. It is too early to get a good handle on the expected snow totals but it is looking very encouraging. We should have some happy totals for you with our next update this coming Thursday.
