Incoming! 7-10" Expected by Monday Morning.

Hello skiers and snowboarders,

We will be greeted by 7 to 10" snow by Monday morning (see map below). This will be the case for Mt. Baker, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, and Crystal Mountain. The inland areas like 49 Degrees North and Silver Mountain are expecting up to 4" over this period.

We are expecting additional snow later Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. With many schools now on mid-winter break this will be a great opportunity for some family fun on the slopes.

SNOW LEVELS for Monday night into Tuesday are close to 3000' so we may get a brief rain/snow mix close to those levels. Although many models say this will not be the case, which I tend to agree with. However, inland areas like 49 Degrees North and Silver Mountain will have much lower snow levels.

MONDAY looks like the best day to ski... so many people can take advantage of the holiday. Watch WSDOT updates for your area and be "car ready" with your car kit just in case.

TUESDAY should also be an excellent day. For Wednesday and Thursday, we will start to see an increase in the snow levels (mainly on Thursday) the snow will be best on the mid and upper slopes.

HIGHLIGHTS

Monday late morning to evening - 3 to 5"

Tuesday - Up to 3"

Wednesday - 4 to 8"

Thursday - 1 to 3"

EXTENDED OUTLOOK 2-20 to 2-25

During this period forecast models have been consistently showing much warmer conditions (the first map) starting later this upcoming week and into next weekend.

The second map shows freezing levels for late next weekend, jumping to 8000'+ for Western Washington. Sorry to report this, because it indicates that any precipitation will be rain. Check out our next update this coming Thursday; hopefully we can report a more optimistic update.
