Hello skiers and snowboarders,
Hope you had some good skiing over this past weekend.
This week: low snow levels (2,000 -2,500 ft) and cold temps.
Monday: expect a trace to 3” of new.
Tuesday: a mix of sun and clouds.
Friday: a chance of new snow.
Many ski areas on both sides of the Cascades are at least partially open. East of the Cascades there is good skiing for the Inland Northwest. Two of our favorites, 49 Degrees North and Silver Mountain are open for skiing - go for it!
The skiing has improved with the refresh today. Abundant new snow, lower snow levels and a healthy early season snowpack - the best in years have added to the fun. Check your favorite areas for changing hours & days of operation and what terrain is open. The details change often at the beginning of the season.
The week ahead will see snow levels stay low (2,000 -2,500 ft) as a weak area of low pressure on Monday gives way to a building high-pressure area by mid-week. The transition will mean a little snow on early Monday. Expect a trace to 3” of new, with more snow for Crystal and White into the Oregon Cascades. Then Tuesday through Thursday expect a mix of sun and clouds. Friday there is a chance of new snow.
Temperatures will be a bit chilly in the morning, in the 20’s, so bundle up. The cool temperatures will be with us most of the week. The skiing and snowboarding will be good this week, as the snow quality will be high both on and off-piste, aided by the cool temperatures and a respectable November snowpack. Be cautious of thin spots and other early season hazards, especially off the groomers.
Looks like a good time to go ski with the family and friends sometime around Thanksgiving holiday period. Have a good one. I’ll have another update later in the week.
