Christmas afternoon through Thursday 20" of snow!

Hello skiers and snowboarders,

A strong weather system will move in this afternoon through Thursday. The map below shows cumulative snowfall through Thursday afternoon. The yellow colors indicate 20" which is for the 4000 foot level. However, some models also suggest we have those totals for 3000/3500 feet as well. Note that during the day on Thursday, we are expecting some strong winds at times. Ridgetops can expect gusts at 30 to 45 mph at times, so visibility will be an issue. The inland ski resorts of 49 Degrees North and Silver Mt should get 6 to 10 inches through Thursday.

On Friday, we are expecting 1 to 3 inches at 3500/4000 for the Western Washington Ski Resorts. However, Crystal Mountain is expecting up to 8". White Pass should get 4 - 7".

More snow and windy conditions on Saturday with 6 - 12" of new snow at 3500/4000 feet for Western Washington Ski Resorts. The Inland areas like 49 Degrees and Silver Mountain should get 4 - 6".

More snow is expected on Sunday likely at 3000 feet of 4 - 8" and we are not expecting the strong winds that we have had on the prior day

  • Wed pm to Thurs: 12 - 20" higher totals listed for 4000'

  • Friday: 1 - 3" except Crystal and White Pass higher

  • Saturday: 6 - 12"

  • Sunday: 4 - 7"

EXTENDED OUTLOOK

This graph is for Stampede Pass at 4000 feet just SE of Snoqualmie Pass. The red arrow points to high temperatures of 33 F for Monday and Tuesday, December 30 and 31. So the main message is for continued cool conditions, which will keep our snowpack intact.

At this point, models show lighter snowfall for early next week.

Next update on Sun, 12/29.
