Hello Skiers - Powder Alert
As promised -- this is the real deal. Sound the alarm; ring the bells - the really big bells!
A weather system is coming in Thursday with increasing snow. Expect 1-5" during the day, picking up late in the day. The snow level will be 2,500-3,000ft, from overnight Thursday through lunch on Friday, as this major snowstorm delivers the goods. The snow continues with 5-10" new on Friday morning, with more falling during the day - the snow level dropping to 1500 by Friday afternoon. It might be one of those days it gets better after lunch.
As you know, I like the more predictable back side of the storm with the coldest air (quality snow) as the storm tapers off on Friday night, but delivers another 3-6". Saturday morning will have excellent refills of Friday tracks, plus respectable new snow. The weekend will see occasional snow at times with a very low snow level 500 -1,500. The weekend snow will be high quality into Monday, but not as much snow falling as it turns to mostly occasional snow showers - off and on. Bundle up, it will be cold.
Whistler - This system is moving into Whistler too, with a snow level at the Village elevation - so great quality snow mid station to alpine. Expect a little less multi day snow total than WA and OR: Twelve to 18". Also expect less snow over the weekend (2-5"). However, the skiing will be fantastic through the weekend, but chilly.
