Hello skiers,

New Cascade snow is creating terrific ski conditions. A broad area of low pressure continues with very low snow levels (200 - 1,000ft). Expect snow showers and sunbreaks at times on Friday.

I was at Crystal today (Thursday) and the new snow falling after lunch was primo almost creamy and silky. There is very high-quality snow produced with this cold air. Powder Bowl was outstanding. The air is especially cold for April and that chill is preserving the snowpack while making for the platinum quality new powder. Friday will be incredible for all the ski areas with near perfect groomers and high quality off -piste.

A note: ski areas will start to close after this weekend or will go on limited operations with fewer days open and fewer lifts open. Check websites for the latest.

Here is the forecast:

Friday: New snow when you arrive will be 1-5 with outstanding ski conditions. Partly cloudy with a little light snow at times. Low snow levels continue, bundle up.

Saturday: A trace to 2 new from overnight, then partial clearing early in the day. Snowfall increases late in the day. Another fine day on the slopes.

Sunday: There will be new snow from overnight (1-4) then partly sunny. Enjoy the sun as it will be slightly warmer.

Monday Tuesday next week: a robust weather front comes in with substantial new snowfall (7-15) snow levels: 2,000 - 3,000ft
